This past weekend saw the best triathletes in the world converge on Vancouver, B.C. for the World Triathlon Championships. The World Championship event which featured the top age group, junior, U23, and elite triathletes from around the world also served as the last chance qualifer for the mens and womens Canadian Olympic Triathlon Team heading to Beijing this fall. In the mens elite race, Simon Whitfield finished 6th, Paul Tichelaar finished 9th, and Brent McMahon finished 17th. In the womens elite race Kathy Tremblay was top Canadian in 21st, Carolyn Murray was 24th, Lauren Groves was 33rd and Kirsten Sweetland was 38th.

Local triathletes, Heather and Trevor Wurtele, were featured in the Goldstream Gazette this morning. Heather and Trevor are fresh off the Boise 70.3 Half-Ironman where Heather finished 3rd overall and Trevor finished 9th overall in the womens and mens pro divisions. Frontrunners Westshore has proud to support Heather and Trevor for the past season and wish them the best of luck in their next race, The Lake Stevens 70.3 Half-Ironman.
