World Triathlon Championships
World Triathlon ChampionshipsThis past weekend saw the best triathletes in the world converge on Vancouver, B.C. for the World Triathlon Championships.  The World Championship event which featured the top age group, junior, U23, and elite triathletes from around the world also served as the last chance qualifer for the mens and womens Canadian Olympic Triathlon Team heading to Beijing this fall.  In the mens elite race, Simon Whitfield finished 6th, Paul Tichelaar finished 9th,  and Brent McMahon finished 17th.  In the womens elite race Kathy Tremblay was top Canadian in 21st, Carolyn Murray was 24th, Lauren Groves was 33rd and Kirsten Sweetland was 38th.

Heather and Trevor on the BikeLocal triathletes, Heather and Trevor Wurtele, were featured in the Goldstream Gazette this morning. Heather and Trevor are fresh off the Boise 70.3 Half-Ironman where Heather finished 3rd overall and Trevor finished 9th overall in the womens and mens pro divisions. Frontrunners Westshore has proud to support Heather and Trevor for the past season and wish them the best of luck in their next race, The Lake Stevens 70.3 Half-Ironman. Terry Fox Tour of Hope 2008
Rob is currently working for the Terry Fox Foundation, and traveling across Canada with the original Ford van that Terry Fox used as his support vehicle.
The Terry Fox Foundation is pleased to announce the discovery of the original van that was an integral component of Terry Fox's 1980 Marathon of Hope. The 1980 Ford Econoline van was Terry's home for 4 ½ months. It is where he felt protected from the madness outside; where he slept, prepared and perspired. The van was used to carry supplies, monitor Terry's running mileage, collect donations and slow down traffic.

Oak Bay 'Kool' Half-Marathon

Todd and Jim at Oak Bay HalfThe 4th Annual Oak Bay 'Kool' Half-Marathon recorded a record crowd of 543 finishers plus 41 relay teams take part in this beautiful waterfront half-marathon through the streets of Oak Bay. Jim Finlayson came out on top this morning for his third win (1:08:03) on this course. Todd Howard held strong in second place (1:08:18) and Steve Murenbeeld ran in for third (1:12:21) after spending all morning setting up the course. On the womens side, Masters runner, Angela Plamondon, pulled away from the lead group of women for the overall and masters win (1:29:48). Charlene Waldner held onto a small lead for 2nd place (1:31:12) overall and Emily Solsberg of the Ceevacs Running Club ran a strong third (1:31:28).
