First off, a big thanks to all the Harriers, families and the rest of the enthusiastic runners, triathletes and fans that came out to support a great track race tonight with exceptional athletes preparing for the Berlin Marathon, the Chicago Marathon and the Great North Half Marathon in Sheffield, England. I estimated about 100 spectators cheering on the athletes for 25 laps. Secondly, congrats to Jim Finlayson for organizing and directing the event and to the 215 North crew for filming, promoting and supporting a very worthwhile cause. The 25th edition of the Subaru Ironman Canada takes place today in Penticton, B.C. Over 2,500 athletes are taking part in the 3.8km swim, 180km bike, and 42.2km run.

Victoria 800m runner, Gary Reed, ran a perfectly timed race to almost steal the win from a star studded field of the worlds best middle distance runners. Gary lead for 799m of the 800m race before being outleaned at the line by Alfred Kirwa Yego of Kenya by just 0.01 of a second! The entire field finished within 0.49 seconds of each other.
